This is one of our more popular sites. Ancoras is a large rock reef with a maximum depth of 18-19 metres. At some places, the face of the reef can reach up to 4 metres from the seabed and is punctuated with several large swim-throughs that allow you to pass easily through the reef.
There are many little nooks and crannies that are home to octopus and conga eels, with spider crabs and squid also being regularly sighted on this reef.
In the warmer summer months, large shoals of trigger fish can be seen circling the 17th Century anchor sticking right out of the top of the Ancoras reef. From Nudibranche to massive groups of bream, this site is a favorite with many of our divers.
